CNU marketing students receive first place regional awards . Members of the 2004 ECHO competition team won both the Gold MAXI and the Guy Yolton Creative Direct Mail Award from the Direct Marketing Association of Washington D.C. (DMAW) for their direct marketing plan prepared for Advanta. This regional competition attracts entries from colleges and universities from Virginia , Delaware , Maryland , the District of Colombia, and other neighboring states.
CNU named the Gold Echo Award winner . The direct marketing plan developed for Mazda by four CNU business students was named the winner of the 2003 National Collegiate ECHO Competition, commonly known as the Oscars of Direct Marketing. The 2003 competition attracted 231 entries from 40 colleges and universities across the country. The corporate sponsor of this competition was Mazda North America Operations. Senior marketing management from Mazda, as well as top direct marketing professionals served as judges.
In a press release the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation noted, "The Gold-winning team from CNU put together a truly outstanding package. Their Satisfy Your Passion for Excitement was unanimously named the top pick by all the judges, being considered by far the most integrated of all the finalists."
T.J. Karl of Relationship Marketing at Mazda North American Operations said, "This work could have easily come from one of our current creative agencies.The case was definitely read with a 'maybe we should try that' tone."
All four members of the ECHO team were honored at the national DMA conference in Orlando , Florida .
