Charles W. Wornom is the President of the Abbitt Realty Company and its subsidiaries.  The Abbitt organization has significant involvement in Real Estate Brokerage, Land Development, Real Estate Investment Acquisitions, Property Insurance and Property Management.  Abbitt Management, Inc is a multi-state operation.

Charles Wornom graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1964.  After graduation he married Susannah Ayers, his wife for 40 years.  They have three daughters, Kimberly, Katherine and Kristina and two granddaughters, Henley and Alexandra and a grandson, Raleigh.  Upon leaving Randolph Macon, Charles worked as a chemist for the State Department of Agriculture in Richmond for two years.  He then joined the United States Air Force and went through the Officer’s Training Program.  He served four years and was discharged with the rank of Captain.  After leaving the Air Force, he attended The College of William & Mary and obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.  Upon completing this program, he joined the Abbitt Realty Company.

Charles is a member of the Randolph-Macon College Board of Trustees and a   past President of the Randolph – Macon College Society of Alumni. He has participated in a number of community and civic activities.  They include past President and member of the Warwick Rotary Club, past Chairman of the Peninsula Apartment Council, Board of Trustees of the Virginia Living Museum,  past Advisory Board Member of Cenit/Southtrust /Wachovia Bank, past Chairman of the Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority, past Chairman of the Newport News Economic and Industrial Development Authorities, member of the Greater Peninsula Now, Inc., a member of the CNU Business School Advisory Board and a Charter Investor and member of the Board of Directors of The Virginia Company Bank.  In addition, he is a past deacon of the Denbigh Presbyterian Church and is currently a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. 

Charles’s hobbies and interests include photography, snow skiing, scuba diving, duck and decoy carving, golf, boating and traveling with his wife Susie.

Professionally, he is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in the State of Virginia, a Licensed Real Estate Broker, a Certified Property Manager (CPM) as designated by the Institute of Real Estate Management, member of the Peninsula Housing and Builders Association, member of the Peninsula Board of Realtors, associate member of the Appraisal Institute as well as a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management.
